Job Description

Producer’s primary responsibilities are to produce, organize, write, and coordinate all elements involved in creating and producing a fast-paced newscast. This individual will work closely with the Executive Producer, Assignment Editors, Reporters, and Anchors. The producer will follow the station's news philosophy of Breaking News, Breaking Weather, and Respond (Consumer Investigative). Ability to write, copy, edit video, produce, and gather content under heavy deadline pressure, without compromising accuracy or credibility. You must be willing to react to breaking news, modify your rundown accordingly, contribute story ideas daily, create graphics, assign and edit news copy, produce other newscasts and specials as needed. Must be willing to work long hours during breaking news if required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience producing in a broadcast or cable news environment
  • Spanish language proficiency (reading and writing)
  • Strong Spanish news writing skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of various media platforms, including broadcast, web, and mobile
  • Experience using social media as a news gathering/reporting tool
  • Ability to direct the news crew in a "producer-driven" environment
  • Ability to create content for digital/streaming platforms
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Familiarity with local leaders is a plus
  • Interest in current news events
  • Knowledge of libel, slander laws, and FCC regulations
  • Personal initiative and ability to work independently
  • Team player and flexible
  • Positive work ethic and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • High integrity and professionalism
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Desktop editing skills
  • Unrestricted work authorization in the U.S.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Coverage under NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000
