KTVB, the TEGNA‑owned NBC affiliate in Boise, ID, is seeking a Senior Producer to produce specials for KTVB streaming & broadcast, breaking news coverage, and special projects. The role involves researching and producing content and long‑form investigations, juggling multiple projects, and delivering high‑quality content for on‑air and digital platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Help establish editorial priorities and content strategy for major coverage, special projects, and streaming initiatives.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and coaching to producers and digital producers, serving as a resource and mentor for developing newsroom talent.
  • Set and participate in planning meetings for big story coverage.
  • Participate in daily editorial meetings and pitch deep‑dive/side‑bar angles on big daily news stories, developing news, and long‑term enterprise stories.
  • Develop and maintain sources that can provide exclusive content; update contacts in ENPS.
  • Review and edit producer/reporter scripts to ensure accuracy as needed.
  • Ensure digital is a priority from the first stages of production for all projects.
  • Partner with creative and editorial teams to develop and request compelling graphics that elevate investigative and major story coverage.
  • Lead field production efforts for special projects and enterprise stories, ensuring high‑quality storytelling on location.
  • Produce dynamic content across platforms, delivering engaging broadcasts and streaming shows that connect with audiences.
  • Use your natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
  • Inspire and motivate a team while leading by example.
  • Guide editorial decision‑making as a leader in the newsroom.
  • Push our shows to be filled with context and stand out from the competition.
  • Show off your creativity and storytelling skills.
  • Booth continuous coverage on our live streams for breaking news and community events.
  • Consistently try new things after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
  • Use data analytics to help shape the content of your show.
  • Challenge traditional ways of doing things.
  • Advocate for under‑represented people, communities, and viewpoints to have a voice and presence in your show.
  • Fill in producing on daily newscasts as needed.
  • Work flexible shifts as required.
  • Other projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications, or a related field; alternatively equivalent years of experience.
  • 3–5 years of news content experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Solid journalistic judgement and a philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique local content and community engagement.
  • Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
  • Proficiency in producing engaging, content‑driven newscasts and digital content.
  • Strong social media skills with an active presence on preferred social platforms.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under time‑pressure deadlines.
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
  • Experience with ENPS and Edius systems preferred.
