Job summary

KGW, the NBC affiliate in Portland, OR, seeks an innovative Producer to shape our daily newscasts. You will pitch stories, craft engaging content, and meet daily deadlines across platforms including streaming, broadcast and mobile.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of newsroom content experience, strong communication, and a solid ethics foundation. ENPS/Edius experience is preferred; shifts may include mornings or weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of news content experience, preferably as a newscast producer.
  • Strong communication skills are an absolute must.
  • Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
  • Understanding of the ethics of professional journalism.
  • Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
  • Strong social media skills, including an active newshound presence on your preferred social platforms.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under time-pressure deadlines.
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
  • ENPS and Edius experience preferred.

This position may involve morning or weekend shifts.
