WFMT, Chicago’s classical music radio station, is seeking a Producer – Radio Content. The Producer is responsible for all aspects of the production and delivery of WFMT’s Exploring Music and participates in the production of general WFMT content. The Producer brings deep knowledge of classical music and expertise in writing, editing, and audio production to this important role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working as a collaborative partner with the program host and executive producer, manage and track the overall production processes and workflows of Exploring Music from concept through delivery of finished programs.
- Participate in the editorial process of developing show topics and researching, writing, editing, and proofing of scripts.
- Select, edit, and prepare appropriate archival episodes of Exploring Music for inclusion in the broadcast schedule.
- Prepare, conduct, and edit interviews with artists and other contributors.
- Assemble and mix content including complete Exploring Music episodes, promos, special programs, fundraising segments, and other content as assigned.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal stakeholders who support Exploring Music, including the marketing, development, and community engagement departments, and the WFMT Radio Network team.
- Participate in the production of other local and nationally distributed content for WFMT, wfmt.com, and the WFMT Radio Network as assigned, which may include special programs, web stories, fundraising content, promos, testimonials, and other projects.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Minimum 8-10+ years of experience producing and mixing audio content in the classical music and/or radio fields.
- Extensive knowledge of classical music repertoire, artists, and performing arts organizations.
- Demonstrated skill and experience in writing and editing scripts for radio.
- Advanced audio production skills, with expertise in producing and mixing audio elements for radio. Experience with DAW platforms required, preferably Adobe Audition, as well as Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace. Experience with MusicMaster and WideOrbit helpful.
- Familiarity with live radio broadcast operations, systems and equipment, and studio operation helpful.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to maintain a wide range of tasks and responsibilities with multiple overlapping timelines and workflows.
- This position requires membership in SAG-AFTRA.
ESTIMATED SALARY RANGE
starting at $62,700 - $80,000/annual
