Job summary

NBCUniversal Local Chicago is seeking an experienced and creative producer and booker to join the Chicago Today Lifestyle Show team. This role collaborates with producers, hosts and photojournalists to craft fun, informative, and cohesive stories for a daily television program.

The candidate will source ideas, book guests, conduct pre-interviews, write segments, secure media, and coordinate live control room operations to ensure timely, engaging broadcasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or minimum 2 years of experience working in broadcast television or production.
• Experience in entertainment magazine style, talk shows, and segment production.
• Experience with digital cameras and editing systems.
• Must have good knowledge of various broadcast, digital, and other multiplatform content.
• Solid writing skills and editorial judgment.
• Possess excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
• Possess strong creative writing skills.
• Possess strong video production knowledge.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to work well independently and be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Source new ideas for show segments, pitch ideas and produce ideas from conception to a live show.
• Find and book guests, following booking protocols.
• Conduct pre-interviews of guests and script questions for use by Talent.
• Write and produce full segments and shows.
• Secure elements such as sound bites, video and pictures to support segments.
• Edit interviews and b-roll for air.
• Assist in clearing images/video for broadcast and coordinating crew in accordance with laws and union guidelines.
• Create and maintain schedules and other in-place documentation for show organization.
• Lead live control room execution of Chicago Today, managing rundown timing and communication with directors and team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Work independently with guidance from the Executive Producer, the team and station management
• Source new ideas for show segments, pitch ideas and produce ideas from conception to a live show
• Find and book guests, following booking protocols
• Conduct pre-interviews of guests and based on their responses, script questions for use by Talent
• Write and produce full segments and shows
• Secure elements such as sound bites, video and pictures to support segments
• Edit interviews and broll for air
• Assist in clearing images/video for broadcast and coordinating our crew in accordance with local and state laws and adhering to labor union guidelines
• Create and maintain schedules and other in-place documentation for show organization
• Lead live control room execution of Chicago Today, managing rundown timing, editorial adjustments, and communication with directors, production staff, and technical teams to ensure successful delivery of each broadcast
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four (4) days per week.
