Job summary

KKTV, The E.W. Scripps station in Colorado Springs is seeking a News Producer who will create, and organize content for multiple platforms utilizing editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills.

KKTV collaborates with reporters, anchors and editors to deliver compelling local news. You will manage newscasts, edit content, post to websites and make time-sensitive editorial decisions as part of The E.W. Scripps Company newsroom.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred.

Job description

KKTV, The E.W. Scripps station in Colorado Springs is searching for a News Producer who will create, and organize content for multiple platforms utilizing editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Develop and organize newscasts or local programs.
  • Write story development and showcasing.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred

  • Avid local news consumer: knows daily news, events, trends and happenings on a local level
  • Strong vision and ability to advance stories
  • Excellent interpersonal communicator
  • Extraordinarily passionate about writing; courageous and creative storyteller with attention to even tiny details - choosing the perfect words, grammar, spelling
  • Highly organized
  • Highly adaptable - fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws and strong editorial judgement
  • Able to use web analytics
  • Proficient with newsroom computer systems, MS Office a plus
  • Flexible work hours required
COMPENSATION RANGE:

Hourly: $19.24 - 26.66

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Colorado.
