Job summary

CitizenRacecar in New York City seeks a motivated producer/educator to teach the next generation of audio journalists. This part-time role supports our Afterschool Podcasting program across NYC schools.

You will lead classroom sessions for up to 25 students, help them record and edit their podcasts, and travel to afterschool sites. Spanish helpful; must be a US citizen or green card holder with SSN; pass background health checks.

Qualifications

• Must have both audio production and storytelling experience and experience working with children.
• Must be US citizen or a resident with green card and SSN.
• Based within an easy commute to New York City, NY.
• Must pass a criminal background check and health screening.
• Spanish language skills are a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Train on our curriculum and philosophy.
• Facilitate a classroom of up to 25 children in developing, recording and editing a podcast.
• Process and story-edit student recordings.

CitizenRacecar seeks a motivated producer/coaches in the New York City area to help teach the next generation of audio journalists!

CitizenRacecar is an industry-leading company that provides non-profit organizations, government agencies, and forward-looking companies around the country with production of emotionally engaging audio. In our unique education program, Afterschool Podcasting, we’re teaching elementary through high school-aged students the fundamentals of audio storytelling and empowering them to create their own podcast series.

We are immediately hiring part-time podcast educators to join our coaching team for the 2026-27 school year, to teach classes on the fundamentals of podcasting and create student-led audio episodes.

Duties include:

• Training on our curriculum and philosophy
• Facilitating a classroom of up to 25 children in developing, recording and editing a podcast
• Processing and story-editing student recordings
• Traveling to afterschools site to lead one- or two-hour class sessions
• Inspiring kids with the possibilities of audio storytelling
• Training and supporting their use of recording equipment and text-to-audio editing software
• Regular administrative meetings

Work to begin immediately through December 2026 with possible renewal for subsequent project terms. $33/hour, 5-15 hours per week. On-clock hours include training, travel, prep, teaching, file processing, and editing.

Must have both audio production and storytelling experience and experience working with children. Must be either a US citizen or a resident with green card and social security number. Must be based within an easy commute to New York City, NY. Must pass a criminal background check and health screening. Working fluency in Spanish a strong plus.
