Job summary

SpartanNash is hiring a Produce Associate in Nappanee, Indiana. The role maintains and operates the produce department, including trimming and preparation of merchandise to departmental standards.

You will weigh, package, label, and merchandise items, discuss products with customers, and assist with deliveries and shelf stocking. This part-time position requires a High School Diploma or GED preferred, one year of retail experience preferred, and the ability to work with fresh produce.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Must be able to work with fresh fruits, vegetables etc. without negative allergic consequences.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail Oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed; follow procedures for culling, trimming and storing product.
• Weigh, package and label products.
• Handle spoiled/damaged products per established guidelines.
• Fill, rotate and merchandise produce and floral shelves; assist with unloading deliveries and stacking product in coolers.
• Notify the Manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Know differences in price, taste, preparation, use of all products in the department.
• Maintain clean, attractive and well stocked departments.
• Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines.
• Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations.
• Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
