Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Michigan is seeking a front-end/customer service associate to create outstanding experiences and keep a safe, clean environment. You will assist the department manager, answer questions, promote brands, and support cost controls while delivering friendly service.

Candidates should handle stress well, communicate clearly, perform basic math, and have a current food handlers permit. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Role model the 3A’s of Friendly: acknowledge, assist and appreciate customers
• Promote Corporate Brands to customers
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions
• Assist with the preparation produce platters/trays
• Inform customers of produce specials
• Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity to store management
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable manner
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
• Provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
