Job summary

Hen House is seeking a reliable Produce Clerk to join our team. You will help maintain fresh, abundant, and visually appealing produce displays while assisting guests with high-quality fruit and vegetable selections.

As part of Balls Food Stores, you’ll stay active helping guests, stock and rotate items, ensure accurate signage, and collaborate with teammates to deliver a clean, safe, and enjoyable shopping experience every day.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Required: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Preferred: Experience in grocery, retail, or produce environments

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, helpful guest service to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visits
• Stock, rotate, and face produce to maintain freshness and appealing presentation
• Build and maintain full, attractive displays that highlight quality and promote sales
• Inspect products for freshness and remove damaged items to uphold standards
• Assist guests with product selection and answer questions about varieties, ripeness, and handling
• Cut, prepare, and package produce following food safety and merchandising standards
• Maintain knowledge of produce items, including seasonality, pricing, and location
• Ensure accurate signage, labeling, and pricing
• Monitor inventory levels and report lows or damaged items
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe work environment on prep areas and sales floor
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards
• Operate scales, scanners, and related equipment accurately
• Communicate clearly with teammates and leadership to support department operations
• Collaborate across departments to support storewide efficiency and guest hospitality goals
• Adhere to company policies, including attendance, conduct, and dress code
• Support loss prevention efforts by staying alert and following proper procedures
• Participate in trainings and continuous learning opportunities
• Remain productive during slower periods by culling, trimming, cleaning, or restocking
• Other duties as assigned
