Job description

About the Company

We are a locally owned grocery store that believes work should be enjoyable, dependable, and connected to the community we serve. Our team works closely together, and employees have regular access to ownership and store leadership.

We offer a fun, hands-on environment where people have the opportunity to learn, take on more responsibility, and grow their earning potential. If you enjoy working with fresh food, helping customers, and seeing the results of your work every day, this could be a great fit.

The Role

The Produce Manager is responsible for keeping our produce department fresh, organized, inviting, and running smoothly. You'll be responsible for everything from ordering and inventory to merchandising, quality control, customer service, and maintaining a well-organized department.

This is a hands-on position. You'll stock and organize produce, create displays, help customers, monitor product quality, and take ownership of keeping the department running smoothly.

You do not need to know everything about produce on day one. We value people who are dependable, eager to learn, comfortable working with customers, and ready to take ownership of their department.

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the produce department
  • Order produce and maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Monitor freshness, quality, rotation, and presentation of products
  • Create attractive, creative produce displays and merchandising
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service
  • Stock, organize, and maintain the department throughout the day
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and provide department updates
  • Support store promotions and social media efforts
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and store procedures
  • Help maintain a positive, team-focused work environment
What We're Looking For
  • Dependable and willing to take ownership of responsibilities
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Professional appearance and approach to customer interactions
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn about produce, merchandising, inventory, and store operations
  • Ability to be on your feet for most of the workday
  • Ability to safely lift and handle boxes weighing approximately 40 to 50 pounds as part of regular department duties
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous grocery, retail, produce, food service, or customer service experience
  • Knowledge of produce, fresh foods, or healthy eating
  • Experience with inventory, ordering, purchasing, or merchandising
  • Comfort with social media and store promotions
Schedule & Compensation
  • $25 per hour
  • Full-time schedule of approximately 40–45 hours per week
  • Weekend availability is required
  • Typical schedule is approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
