Position: Produce Manager

Overview:

The produce manager assists the store manager in planning, directing, and controlling the operation of the produce department. They supervise employees to manage production, inventory, quality, freshness, merchandising, losses, gross profit, net profit, and hours of work in the department. Responsibilities include supervising product ordering, supporting sales plans, maximizing sales, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The produce manager is also responsible for hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, and disciplinary actions for all department employees.


Job requirements:
  • Work up to a maximum of 10 hours per day.
  • Be on 24-hour call.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills, maturity, and proven leadership abilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Develop and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Be a self-starter.
  • Travel to and from work as needed.
  • Provide verbal and written instructions.
  • Operate all store equipment.
  • Provide verbal and written direction to employees.
  • Assist with supervising, recruiting, and training employees.
  • Conduct meetings to communicate business results and directions.
  • Operate telephones and intercoms.
  • Prepare work schedules and reports.
  • Effectively deal with vendors, suppliers, competitors, employees, and employee representatives when necessary.
  • Discipline employees as needed.
  • Assist in establishing and administering rules and regulations.
