Job summary

IGA in Barnwell, SC is seeking a Produce Department team member to deliver fresh, high‑quality merchandise and friendly guest service in a fast‑paced grocery setting.

You will follow store programs, assist guests, weigh and price items, manage inventory, and support sanitation, safety, and department scheduling.

This role requires physical stamina, teamwork, and a willingness to learn multiple tasks, with growth opportunities and a solid benefits package.

• Knowledge of produce operations.

• Ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximumsales volume.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Produce Merchandising Department.
• Carry out the preparation of all produce records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
• Accountable for inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good guest relations.
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling, to ensure company objectives are met.
• Responsible for scheduling of the department.
• Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
• Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.
