Job summary

IGA in Alabama is seeking a Produce Department Lead to drive weekly sales programs, manage inventory, and ensure high standards of sanitation and customer service. You will supervise staff, schedule shifts, and coordinate with merchandising and accounting to meet company goals.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, physical stamina, and a solid understanding of produce operations. This position offers a stable schedule with opportunities for growth within a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Produce Merchandising Department.
• Carry out the preparation of all produce records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
• Accountable for inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good guest relations.
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling, to ensure company objectives are met.
• Responsible for scheduling of the department.
• Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
• Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.
