Job summary

Smith's Food and Drug is seeking a dedicated Produce Department Leader to oversee receiving, pricing, merchandising and staffing in our Salt Lake City area stores. You will direct daily department operations and ensure product quality while upholding company policies and exceptional customer service.

You will supervise produce staff, coordinate with store management, manage schedules and inventory, and drive growth through effective merchandising and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as needed.
• Understanding of department operations (merchandising, ordering, inventory, shrink control, labor scheduling).
• Strong written and oral communication with employees, customers and supervision.
• Ability to manage people and organize workloads effectively.
• Produce department experience or similar is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
• Plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the produce department (in scope of authority).
• Assure adequate stock and supplies by proper ordering and maintain inventories.
• Maintain clean, orderly cooler and preparation areas and proper waste disposal.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports in a positive manager.
