Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• High School Diploma or GED expected in the DESIRED section.
• Any management experience helps.
• Any produce/retail experience, second language a plus.
• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate department information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates.

Responsibilities

• Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department.
• Monitor functions, duties and activities related to the Produce department.
• Create and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
• Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Schedule daily/weekly/monthly price changes and update shelf tags.
• Plan and organize inventory and CAO processes; train associates on inventory control.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Respond to customer questions and assist with product recommendations and samples.
• Adhere to safety programs and report safety risks or incidents.
• Assist management with store/department budgeting, expense control and financial reports.
• Coordinate promotions with store management and educate associates on promotions.
