Job summary

Houchens Food Group is seeking a Produce Manager to lead daily operations in the produce department. The role includes projecting sales, product movement, labor needs, and ordering according to guidelines, with responsibility for receiving deliveries and scheduling staff.

Additional duties cover merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, housekeeping, and safe operation of tools. Requires English fluency, ability to lift 50 lb, and comfort with temperature extremes and fast pace.

Responsibilities

• Projects sales, product movement, labor needs.
• Orders product according to established guidelines.
• Receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines.
• Establishes daily work assignments and priorities for produce department personnel.
• Follows established guidelines in all personnel issues, interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, discharge, etc.
• Prepares weekly work schedules according to established guidelines.
• Stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies.
• Using pricing/label gun, marks each item with the correct selling price.
• Rotates merchandise according to anticipated shelf life/product expiration dates.
• Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment, (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.).
• Operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ensure coolers and cases maintain appropriate temperatures
• Ability to work in temperature extremes, (produce cooler maximum low temperature, 32 degrees).
• Standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions.
