Job summary

Kroger in the United States is seeking a Produce Department Manager to lead the produce team, oversee merchandising, pricing, and inventory, and drive customer service excellence. You will supervise staff, ensure training, and coordinate with store management to optimize operations and safety in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include planning schedules, maintaining stock levels, and upholding company policies and standards across the department while promoting initiatives and process

Qualifications

• Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as the work demands.
• Understanding of all key components of department operations (i.e. Managing people, merchandising, computer assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer services, labor scheduling, expense control, etc.).
• Working knowledge of produce and preparation and general knowledge of store operations
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising and customer services related to sale of merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Implement company policies to maximize sales and profits in the produce department.
• Supervise produce department personnel and ensure proper training and indoctrination.
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
• Maintain adequate stock by proper ordering and ensure inventories stay optimum.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper disposal of waste and maintain a neat appearance of staff.
• Plan and organize daily work schedules for full/part-time staff for efficiency.
• Maintain communication with store personnel and handle customer complaints.
• Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements to subordinates.
