Job summary

Houchens Food Group is seeking a Produce Manager to oversee daily operations in the produce department. You will drive gross profit and productivity, project sales and labor needs, and manage ordering, receiving, and merchandising according to established guidelines.

You will schedule staff, supervise hiring and training, maintain product quality, and ensure safe, compliant operations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Achieves desired gross profit.
• Achieves desired level of productivity.
• Projects sales, product movement, labor needs.
• Orders product according to established guidelines.
• Receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines.
• Establishes daily work assignments and priorities for produce department personnel.
• Follows established guidelines in all personnel issues, interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, discharge, etc.
• Follows established guidelines for completion of all required forms, records, reports and verify receipts.
• Prepares weekly work schedules according to established guidelines.
• Stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies.
• Using pricing/label gun, marks each item with the correct selling price.
• Rotates merchandise according to anticipated shelf life/product expiration dates.
• Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment, (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.).
• Operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ensure coolers and cases maintain appropriate temperatures
• Ability to work in temperature extremes, (produce cooler maximum low temperature, 32 degrees).
• Standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions.
