Job summary

Hy-Vee seeks a Produce Department Manager to lead a fast-paced team in the produce department. You will set standards for freshness, display quality, pricing, and customer service, while driving profitability and department efficiency.

You will recruit and train staff, schedule shifts, supervise inventory, and work with store leadership to meet weekly goals and promotions. Strong leadership and math skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and complete required produce/sanitation courses.
• Experience preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.
• Ability to manage department operations, supervise staff, and drive profitability.

Responsibilities

• Set service standards for customer experience and department profitability.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop department staff.
• Plan schedules, manage inventory, and ensure freshness and proper temperatures.
• Analyze weekly/monthly sales, create ads, and write promotions.
• Oversee department bookkeeping, invoices, and pricing, while controlling shrink.
