Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a department leader to provide guidance during primetime hours (3p-7p M-F; 11a-7p Sat/Sun) to drive sales and enhance the customer experience. You will partner with the store leader and department leader to develop a high-performance culture where associates are aligned to the business strategy and receive training to deliver a consistently great experience.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork
• Ensure orders are put up in a timely manner, working backstock, rotating product and replenishing throughout the day
• Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome by answering questions and guiding product selection
• Inform customers of produce specials and offer product samples to help customers discover new items
• Ensure merchandising standards are followed; review products for quality and freshness
• Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management
• Inform and educate associates about current, upcoming and special in-store promotions
• Ensure in-stock behaviors are executed daily
• Plan and organize the inventory process; train associates on stocking and CAO
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and inspecting equipment
• Report safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines
