Job summary

Caraluzzi's Markets in Bethel, CT is seeking an Assistant Produce Team Leader to support the Produce Department's daily operations, help with sourcing, inventory management, and merchandising, and provide excellent customer service.

This learning-oriented role offers hands-on experience in quality control, staff training, and leadership development within a family-owned grocer known for its fresh produce and customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in produce, grocery, or retail preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Produce Team Leader with the daily operations and management of the Produce Department.
• Learn and develop knowledge of produce sourcing, product selection, seasonality, and quality standards.
• Assist with inspecting produce for freshness, quality, appearance, and proper handling.
• Learn and assist with ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and maintaining appropriate product levels.
• Assist with maintaining attractive, well-stocked, and properly merchandised produce displays.
• Assist with training, supporting, and providing direction to Produce Department associates.
• Help monitor product quality, shrink, cleanliness, and overall department standards.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with produce-related questions and recommendations.
• Other duties as assigned.
