Job summary

ShopRite of Lyndhurst is looking for a Produce Clerk to price, stock and rotate Produce Department merchandise, keeping the area neat, clean, and visually appealing. You will perform tasks safely and efficiently in line with company policy.

The role requires English literacy, basic math, and physical stamina to lift up to 60 lbs. You will interact with customers, support charitable promotions, and maintain sanitation standards while working with various produce items in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak English proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Regularly lift 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs.
• Work with fresh, dried and/or processed products safely.
• Able to tolerate dust and cleaning agents.
• Work in varying temperatures.
• Interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Adhere to attendance and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet Customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Promote current charitable promotions to Customers.
• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
• Differentiate between varieties of produce by taste, seasonality, preparation method, and price differences.
• Receive, code date, prepare, store, and price mark products for quality and rotation.
• Maintain sanitation and QA standards and clean as needed.
• Operate a baler and compactor.
• Follow all regulations and company policies for Produce operations.
• Keep display cases stocked and well presented.
• Ensure proper refrigeration equipment performance and report issues.
