Job summary

El Super in Bell Gardens, CA, is hiring a Produce Clerk - #68. Starting rate $16.90 per hour. Join our Store Operations Team to provide excellent customer service, keep Produce displays tidy, and support our local community with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Under supervision of the Produce Manager, you will lift, stock, rotate perishable items, and help customers. The role requires physical endurance; we value reliability and teamwork in a fast-paced grocery environment.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes and shelf tags.
• Write simple correspondence and communicate with customers and team members.
• Able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to shoppers.
• Assist customers and maintain perishable (produce) displays.
• Follow safety rules and rotate stock as needed.

Candidates should possess the ability to:

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision of Produce Manager, the Produce Clerk provides customer service. Assists customers, cleans, fills and rotates the perishable (produce) displays. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
