Job summary

99 Ranch Market in Quincy, MA is looking for a part-time Produce Clerk to join our team. You will help with display, replenishment, weighing and labeling of produce, and assisting customers on the sales floor.

Experience in a produce environment is preferred. You must be able to lift up to 30 lbs, work weekends/holidays, and follow all safety and quality controls. We offer medical insurance, a 401(k) with up to 4% company match, referral bonuses and employee discounts.

Responsibilities

• Display— ensure products have proper signage and are well merchandised following company standards.
• Replenish— unload deliveries and refill products to meet customer needs; rotate for freshness.
• Processing— cut, trim, and pack products; weigh and label to reflect pricing.
• Dumping— handle expired/recalls; keep logs per policies and health rules.
• Stock— stock, ship and distribute items; follow FIFO; monitor cooler temperatures.
• Cleaning— clean walk-in cooler, display cases, scales, counters; maintain areas.
• Quality Contro l— complete production process and quality control.
• Sales Floor Maintenance— keep aisles clear and safe.
• Customer Service— assist customers with product questions on floor.
• PI Count— assist in monthly inventory counts.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Previous produce dept experience preferred.
• Knowledge of farm produce or similar experience.
• Weekend/holiday availability or rotating schedules.

Job Duties:

• Display- Ensure products have proper signage and are well merchandised following company standards; showcase quality and freshness to drive sales in the department
• Replenish- Unload and break down deliveries. Refill products to meet customer needs and rotate for freshness
• Processing- Be responsible for cutting, trimming, and packing products into saleable sizes, weighing and labeling the produce products to reflect accurate pricing information
• Dumping- Handle expired and recalled products properly. Keep accurate logs in accordance with the policies of the company, state food safety, and health
• Stock- Be responsible for stocking, shipping and distributing product items to production teams. Follow the First-In First-Out (FIFO) method. Monitor the cooler/freezer temperature to ensure that company standards and required regulations are followed
• Cleaning- Follow the company policy to clean the walk-in cooler, clean and sanitize display cases, scales, and counters in a safe manner, and maintain work areas clean
• Quality Control- Complete production process, quality control, and other techniques maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
• Sales Floor Maintenance- Keep aisles and common walking areas clean/cleared of boxes and debris to prevent injury
• Customer Service - Answer customer questions regarding seasonal product lines. Help customers with the products they are looking for on the sales floor
• PI Count- Work with other team members to conduct monthly inventory count
• Perform other duties as for business needs
• Previous produce department work experience is preferred
• Knowledge of general farm produce or similar experience
• Available to work on weekends and holidays or rotating schedules

Physical Demands:

• Stand and walk for an extended period of time
• Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation

• Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat
• Lifting items weighing 30 lbs or more with appropriate equipment
• Able to work occasionally with an environment temperature ranging from 32ºF to 50°F
