Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers and makes an effort to learn and use customer names.
• Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading/unloading heavy items, making notes of suggestions or requests, and performing tasks that enhance the shopping experience.
• Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service.
• Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Practice proper sanitation procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Review merchandise status and appearance for freshness.
• Ensure adequate product supply, develop or follow a production list, and anticipate daily product needs.
• Check in product, put product away, review invoices, replenish and rotate product, and remove trash promptly.
• Maintain strict adherence to departmental and company guidelines for personal hygiene, dress, policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work on schedule and on time.

General Function

Reporting Relations

Accountable and reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Produce Department Manager; Assistant Produce Department Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics

Ability to follow written or verbal instructions, perform simple addition and subtraction, and record figures. Ability to understand and follow instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing.

Education and Experience

Less than high school or equivalent experience. Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements

Perform medium physical work, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet and color vision. Perform activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Frequently exposed to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and cleaning chemicals. Fast‑paced work environment.
