Join to apply for the Produce Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager) role at Whole Foods Market.

Assists the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned. Leads and develops Team Members. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. All positions must support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations including Food Safety and other regulatory duties in the department.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising.
  2. Works with Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  3. Assists Team Leader in analysis of sales, reports, and labor.
  4. Demonstrates advanced product knowledge and develops/maintains awareness of new products.
  5. Maintains good vendor relationships, develops new vendor relations, and ensures all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing.
  6. Works with Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues.
  7. Functions as point person and departmental person in charge in the absence of the Team Leader.
  8. Sets and achieves high standards of retail execution.
  9. Encourages a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and morale.
  10. Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members to satisfy and delight customers; responds promptly to customer needs and questions.
  11. Trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members to sustain high performance and minimize turnover.
  12. Provides performance evaluations that are timely, thorough, and constructive.
  13. Communicates and models WFM vision and goals consistently.

Experience
  1. At least 18 months of retail Team Member experience.
  2. At least 6 months of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  1. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  2. Stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
  3. Use of hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  4. Mobility including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  5. Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  6. Work in temperatures below 32°F, 32-40°F, and above 90°F.
  7. Work in wet and cold environments.
  8. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  9. Use of tools and heavy machinery, including box cutters and electric pallet jacks.
