Job summary

Piggly Wiggly Albany is seeking a Produce Associate to deliver friendly, prompt service while stocking and rotating fresh produce. You will help customers, unload deliveries, and maintain a clean, safe, organized department in a fast-paced grocery setting.

The ideal candidate is 18+, with a High School Diploma or equivalent, able to read and speak English, handle busy periods, and perform basic math. Prior retail or grocery experience is helpful, and flexibility for evenings and weekends is a

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
• Stock and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
• Operate department equipment and tools in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
• Notify management of team member theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
• Receive and unload produce deliveries.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning equipment and utensils.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Understand the company’s checkout/purchasing procedures to include how customers and staff pay for items in the store.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines to include maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned to include stocking, cleaning, etc.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
