Job summary

Genezen in Lexington, Massachusetts, is seeking a Procurement Specialist II to ensure on-time delivery of compliant materials for Operations. You will purchase materials, manage vendors, and work with internal stakeholders in a cGMP environment to follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in business or related field.
  • APICS Certification.
  • 2-4 years GMP experience in pharma/biotech.
  • 1-2 years ERP experience.
  • Familiar with cGMP/ICH/FDA/EU regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in procurement of GMP materials in compliance with policies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and analyze historical trends to prevent stockouts.
  • Track and report supplier freight and expedite costs.
  • Coordinate with vendors for quotes, lead times, and purchase orders.
  • Manage supplier documentation (Vendor Change Notifications, CAPAs).
  • Maintain item master data in the ERP system.
  • Support internal teams by gathering information and assessing material needs.
  • Learn and apply GMP and procurement best practices daily.
  • Meet with internal customers to assess needs and forecast.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Manufacturing, QA/QC, Planning/Scheduling and Warehouse.

JOB SUMMARY

The Procurement Specialist II role is integral to the on-time delivery of compliant materials for Operations. This role supports the day-to-day purchasing of materials and management of vendors by working with internal stakeholders and managing external relationships. These activities are performed in accordance with cGMP guidelines and departmental and inter-departmental policies and standard operating procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the procurement of GMP materials in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support analysis of historical trends to help prevent stockouts.
  • Support the tracking and reporting of supplier freight and expedite costs.
  • Coordinate with vendors to gather quotes, confirm lead times, and process purchase orders.
  • Assist in managing supplier documentation, including Vendor Change Notifications and Corrective Action Requests, under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Maintain and update item master data in the ERP system as directed.
  • Support internal teams by gathering information and helping assess material needs.
  • Learn and apply GMP and procurement best practices through daily activities and team training.
  • Meet with internal customers to assess needs and create forecasts.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including but not limited to Finance, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Planning/Scheduling and Warehouse.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Adaptability required as work schedule may change based on business needs.
  • Criminal background check required.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
  • BS/MS degree in business or related field (e.g., Business Management, Supply Chain, or Finance)
  • APICS Certification
ON-THE-JOB EXPERIENCE
  • 2-4 years of relevant GMP experience in pharma/biotech company, working within a quality system and regulated GMP environment
  • 1-2 years experience working with ERP systems
  • Well versed in cGMP/ICH/FDA/EU regulations and guidelines

COMPENSATION RANGE

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000.
