Position Purpose:

Executes day-to-day purchasing activities, oversees material categories, and resolves quality and delivery issues. The Procurement Specialist I also helps ensure that the sourcing process is more efficient by building relationships with suppliers, negotiating costs, and developing agreements that help the company grow and become more profitable.

Principle Accountabilities

1. Initiates, prepares, and confirms purchase orders, providing all stakeholders with necessary data and deadlines, following all limits of authority.
2. Tracks deliveries and receipt of materials to end users and plants.
3. Performs supplier forecast analysis to mitigate sourcing challenges.
4. Manages the international shipment process to ensure compliance, safety, and efficiency.
5. Holds quarterly check-ins with suppliers to review KPIs and explore new opportunities.
6. Updates supplier relationships, minimum purchases, cost changes, and other variables affecting material planning and execution.
7. Mitigates product shortages through proactive communication, market trend analysis, and planning tools.
8. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to improve supply chain costs and organizational efficiency.
9. Conducts market research to identify new suppliers and alternative raw materials.
10. Visits suppliers to vet processes and build relationships.
11. Performs related tasks as requested by supervisor.

Essential Skills and Experience

1. BS/BA in Supply Chain or Logistics.
2. 2+ years of experience in a Consumer-Packaged Goods environment.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web-based services, and inventory software.
4. Ability to build decision support tools.
5. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
6. Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
