The position involves negotiating terms, analyzing inventories, maintaining stock levels, and collaborating with Sales and internal teams to meet project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; no required years of experience.
  • Combination of education and relevant experience equal to four (4) years acceptable.
  • Knowledge of buying, sourcing, or purchasing principles; high-volume purchasing operations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of freight issues, including estimation of freight expense.
  • Familiar with Inventory Management concepts.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with timely, workable solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a professional manner.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Attentive to detail and results-oriented.
  • Strong business sense with initiative and energy.

Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase goods in a timely manner, negotiating best price, quality, and terms.
  • Analyze inventories and reduce slow-moving or dead stock.
  • Maintain proper stocking levels of tools, supplies and consumables.
  • Determine method of procurement (direct purchase or quotation).
  • Prepare purchase orders or requests for quotes.
  • Review quotations and negotiate within budget and authority.
  • Maintain procurement records and performance data.
  • Address issues with defective goods or services and find corrective action.
  • Resolve Accounts Payable discrepancies.
  • Expedite delivery to meet on-time goals.
  • Follow up on past due orders weekly.
  • Keep Sales informed of delays and changes.
  • Offer alternatives for back-ordered items.
  • Process customer returns monthly.
  • Assist Sales with price/delivery requests and quotes.
  • Research and source new suppliers.
  • Evaluate freight expense impact when placing orders.
  • Introduce new suppliers to improve profitability.
  • Establish and develop vendor relationships.
  • Present new product opportunities to Sales.
  • Ensure all work meets company standards.
