Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Procurement Specialist to handle day-to-day purchasing under moderate supervision, coordinating with supply chain management to address shortages, delays, and obsolescence.

You will use cost analysis, negotiate with vendors, and improve purchasing processes while ensuring compliance with policies and local laws; experience in military/aerospace procurement is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ purchasing/procurement experience in military and aircraft.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or Finance.
• ISO9001/AS9100 experience preferred.
• Knowledge of commodities, materials and specs (mechanical, electrical, 3D-print, PCB’s, cable harnesses, connectors).

Responsibilities

• Purchasing materials and supplies to support company objectives and ensure compliance with policy and laws.
• Prioritizing purchasing activities based on schedule and lead time.
• Reviewing engineering/costed BOMs to ensure up-to-date purchasing information.
• Managing suppliers and ensuring schedule is on track.
• Supporting make vs buy decisions via cost analysis.
• Coordinating non-conformance with Quality and requesting root cause analysis from vendors.
• Supporting outsourcing, supplier qualification and supplier selection.
• Negotiating price, payment terms, lead time and long-term agreements.
• Working with engineering and production for purchasing/productionizing prototype BOMs.
• Communicating with management about shorts, delays, or obsolescence surfaces.
• Coordinating with accounting to ensure billing and taxation compliance.
• Communicating across all levels of the organization and with multidisciplinary teams.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $60,000 to $85,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

SUMMARY

The Procurement Specialist with moderate supervision is responsible for the day-to-day purchasing activity of the company, following established company policy and procedures The Procurement Specialist is responsible for working with supply chain management to communicate shortages, delays, and component obsolescence. The Procurement Specialist utilizes cost comparison tools, communicates and negotiates with vendors, and improves the overall purchasing process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinating non-conformance with Quality and ask vendors for their root cause analysis.
• Supporting outsourcing, supplier qualification and supplier selection
• Negotiating price, payment terms, lead time and long-term agreements.
• Working with engineering and production for purchasing/productionizing prototype BOMs
• Communicating with management such as shorts, delays, or component obsolescence surface

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years’ purchasing/procurement experience in a related industry of Military and Aircraft
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or Finance.
• ISO9001/AS9100 experience preferred
• Knowledge of different commodities, materials and specs (mechanical, electrical, 3D-print, PCB’s, cable harnesses, connectors)
• Experience in sourcing, supplier development, supplier assessment and cost reduction projects
• Experience managing supplier KPI’s
• Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities operation
• Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems and QuickBooks
• Negotiation skills and supplier management skills.

• Microsoft Excel proficiency

The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
