Summary

The Procurement Specialist, Buyer is responsible for managing all procurement requirements for assigned suppliers, performing complex technical duties related to the procurement of equipment, parts, and services, and preparing and analyzing quotes to negotiate pricing options.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with Site Leadership to understand client business and needs
    • Utilize negotiations to reduce costs, lead times, and improve quality for existing materials.
    • Plan quoting strategies for new and expanded vendor relationships.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of goods and services meeting quality, service, and price standards
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews using Supplier Scorecard and Risk Programs; hold meetings with key vendors on scorecards and future business directions.
  • Maintain supplier database information and complete set‑ups and updates.
  • Communicate material problems and research solutions to prevent supply issues, including source identification.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day business with key suppliers:
    • Negotiate pricing and lead times.
    • Submit orders and expedite to meet inventory guidelines.
    • Communicate demand and delivery changes to Inventory Planning staff.
    • Resolve material issues and follow up on backorders.
  • Initiate bid/quote processes for new business:
    • Identify and target vendor bases.
    • Communicate with potential and existing vendors via email, teleconferences, etc.
  • Establish partnerships by understanding supplier capabilities and knowledge.
  • Search for new vendor opportunities through internet, sourcing sites, and engineering communication.
  • Perform bid analysis and determine award recipients and strategies.
  • Work closely with Finance for expedited receiving and AP processes, resolving discrepancies with invoices or material receipts.
  • Run and analyze reports from ERP system to monitor inventory and supply chain metrics (daily zero bin, high risk, open orders, mismatches, FOI, OTD, and other reports).
  • Collaborate with Managers, Site Leads, Inventory Planners, IT, and Finance to complete supply chain tasks.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and industry work experience.
  • Three (3) years of industry experience in a direct or cross‑functional capacity.

Computer Skills
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookup formulas, etc.).
  • ERP System experience.
Language Skills

English (verbal, reading, writing).

Mathematical Skills

Intermediate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPSM or CPM certification desired.
Physical Demands

The employee uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reaches with hands and arms; stoops, kneels, or crouches; talks or hears. Computer and telephone use is frequent. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves objects up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision.

Work Environment

The employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise levels are usually low to moderate.
