Job summary

EMC Renewables is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support utility-scale Solar PV and BESS EPC projects across the United States. You will source materials and subcontractors, negotiate contracts, manage POs, and ensure timely delivery to keep projects on schedule.

The role requires deep renewable energy procurement knowledge, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, estimating, construction, and finance to maximize value while meeting quality,

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project-specific procurement strategies aligned with project schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare RFQs and RFPs for equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
  • Solicit, analyze, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to identify best commercial and technical solutions.
  • Lead commercial bid evaluations utilizing standardized comparison tools and procurement methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain project purchasing plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Maintain weekly updates on the Project Purchasing Plan to align with schedules, budgets, and milestones.
  • Develop and maintain a qualified supplier and subcontractor network nationwide.
  • Conduct ongoing market research for suppliers, pricing trends, and market conditions.
  • Build strong commercial relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to improve pricing and service.
  • Coordinate supplier meetings and communicate project requirements and schedules.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and recommend continuous improvements.

Job description

EMC Renewables is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support the procurement and subcontracting activities for utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EPC projects throughout the United States. This position plays a critical role in sourcing materials and subcontractors, negotiating commercial agreements, managing purchase orders, and ensuring the timely delivery of equipment and services that support successful project execution.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in renewable energy procurement, supplier relationship management, and EPC project purchasing. This individual will work closely with Preconstruction, Engineering, Project Management, Construction, and Finance to develop procurement strategies that maximize value while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
  • Develop and execute project-specific procurement strategies aligned with project schedules and budgets.
  • Receive and evaluate purchasing requests from project teams.
  • Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
  • Solicit, analyze, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to identify the best commercial and technical solutions.
  • Lead commercial bid evaluations utilizing standardized comparison tools and procurement methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain project purchasing plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Develop, issue, maintain, and provide weekly updates on the Project Purchasing Plan to ensure procurement activities remain aligned with project schedules, budgets, and construction milestones.
  • Develop and maintain a qualified supplier and subcontractor network throughout the United States.
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify new suppliers, emerging technologies, pricing trends, and market conditions.
  • Build strong commercial relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to improve pricing, availability, and service.
  • Coordinate supplier meetings and maintain regular communication regarding project requirements and schedules.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and recommend continuous improvements.
Contract & Commercial Management
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
  • Ensure commercial consistency across supplier proposals and subcontractor bids.
  • Coordinate internal approval processes for purchasing activities.
  • Manage purchase orders and contract documentation within the ERP system.
  • Monitor procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and subcontracted services.
  • Support procurement activities during both estimating and project execution phases.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Estimating, Project Management, Construction, Logistics, and Finance to support project objectives.
  • Provide current supplier pricing and market intelligence to assist estimating and budgeting activities.
  • Support procurement planning for high-voltage systems, substations, transmission lines, PV equipment, BESS equipment, civil materials, and construction services.
  • Participate in weekly project meetings and provide procurement status updates.
  • Assist with resolving procurement issues affecting project schedules.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with EMC Renewables procurement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and purchasing records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes.
  • Promote ethical sourcing practices and maintain the highest standards of integrity in supplier relationships.
Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant procurement experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience within the renewable energy, construction, EPC, or related industry.
  • Experience supporting utility-scale Solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects preferred.
  • Experience managing supplier and subcontractor relationships.
  • Experience negotiating commercial contracts and purchase agreements.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices for electrical, civil, mechanical, and construction materials.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain management principles.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy suppliers, subcontractors, and construction markets.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong analytical and commercial evaluation capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working within ERP or procurement management systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced EPC environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and sound business judgment.
  • Results-driven with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, supplier facilities, or company offices may be required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in both office and construction site environments when necessary.
