Job description

The Procurement Specialists' key responsibilities are:

  • Understand and adhere to all of Project policies, particularly to the procurement and safety policies
  • Maintain high data integrity when inputting records in the company’s database systems
  • Provide reporting and analysis on procurement activities, variances and impacts
  • Facilitate the implementation of business specific contracts for services and/or materials
  • Successfully executes elements of the project procurement plan in accordance with approved corporate and or project policies, procedures, plans, strategy and budgets
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of all bid documents, bid tabulations and selection recommendations. This includes preparing the sourcing strategy, bid packages, supplier agreements and overseeing the development of the scope of work
  • Work collaboratively with key project stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured in the total cost of ownership solution
  • Relationship management with vendors and internal stakeholders on all procurement related matters
  • Contract negotiations and preparation, including issuing approval of contract documents, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Support the procurement team on daily activities as required
Education and Qualifications
  • 3 years’ experience within a purchasing department
  • Post-secondary education or work experience in a related field
Job Requirements
  • Technical depth of knowledge in the areas of construction related materials and services
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, techniques, practices and ethics
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotations
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be service oriented
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clients
  • Strong communication skills: ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling and concise narrative
  • Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products
  • Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential
  • Understanding of ERP systems, knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset
  • Ability to analyze complex data and derive well supported linear and non-linear premises
  • Results oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines
  • Ability to manage and coordinate competing organizational needs
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
