Job summary

Jane Street in New York invites a procurement intern to learn how we source goods and services globally, paired with mentors from our full-time team who guide you on real projects. You will see how we develop and execute RFPs, negotiate with vendors, manage inventory, and raise purchase orders while exploring spend data.

This internship focuses on improving internal processes, planning sourcing efforts, and gaining a broad understanding of procurement from pre-purchase to post-purchase.

About the position

Our goal is to give you a real sense of what it's like to work at Jane Street full time while also providing a truly unparalleled educational experience. As an intern, you are paired with full-time employees who act as mentors, collaborating with you on real-world projects we actually need done.

As a procurement intern, you'll work side-by-side with full-timers to learn how we procure goodsand services for the firm on a global basis. You will see how we develop and execute requestsfor proposal (RFPs), negotiate with vendors, level disparate quotes, manage inventory, raisepurchase orders, handle global logistics, and analyze spend data.

Your internship project might focus on finding and implementing ways to improve efficiency inour internal processes, or helping us to plan and research our sourcing efforts. Your mentors willcome from different areas of the team, so you'll gain a better understanding of the planning,execution, and problem solving required pre-purchase and post-purchase. Your daily projectwork will be complemented by lunch seminars, real-time discussion on the desk, and classesthat give you a sense of the broader fundamentals of Jane Street's business and how your dailywork fits into the big picture of our firm.

About you

If you've never thought about a career in finance, you're in good company. Many of us were in the same position before working here. • Passionate about supply chain management, including one or more of the following areas: global sourcing, inventory management, logistics, transportation
• Ideally majoring in supply chain management, business administration/management, operations, or a related field
• Highly proficient in Excel

• Humble and unafraid to ask questions and admit mistakes
• A strong communicator, both written and verbal
• Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment
• A self-starter who enjoys working on problems that don't have clear answers
