Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring assigned categories of materials, equipment, and services that support manufacturing operations. This role manages supplier relationships, ensures timely material availability, optimizes cost and quality, and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to meet production and business objectives while maintaining compliance with company procurement policies.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Source, evaluate, and procure assigned raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services to support manufacturing operations.
  • Solicit supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules.
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment.
  • Monitor supplier performance and expedite orders to meet production requirements.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, invoicing, and purchase order discrepancies.
  • Analyze supplier performance, pricing trends, and market conditions to identify cost savings and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify alternative suppliers to reduce supply chain risk and support business continuity.
  • Collaborate with Production, Operations, Engineering, Planning, and other departments to understand material requirements and support operational goals.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Support inventory optimization, cost reduction initiatives, and strategic sourcing efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and supply chain best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software in SAP preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of procurement, purchasing, or materials management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS/ASCM, CPSM, or other professional procurement certification is preferred.
