The City of McKinney is offering a 500-hour internship in the Finance Department to support Procurement Services with a variety of administrative and operational tasks.
You will assist with sourcing, vendor research, surplus property activities, auctions, and procurement projects; route and track documents; manage communications; and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and records. This role provides practical project work and professional development in a municipal setting.
The Finance Department’s intern program, approved for 500 hours, will support Procurement Services through a variety of administrative and operational tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with sourcing, vendor research, surplus property, auctions, and procurement projects; routing and tracking procurement documents; managing incoming communications and mail; maintaining departmental databases, spreadsheets, and records; updating information systems and generating reports; supporting procurement staff with clerical tasks; maintaining office supplies and equipment; and performing additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require visual and sound perception and discrimination and oral communications ability.
Work is performed in an office setting. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor. May be subject to frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and lifting. There is limited exposure to environmental conditions.
