Job description

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a dynamic procurement team, you will be responsible for managing sourcing, contracting, and supplier execution across multiple assigned commodity areas supporting launch vehicle manufacturing, integration and test, launch site operations, and launch command and control. This is a hands‑on procurement leadership role focused on driving program requirements from requisition through delivery, managing supplier relationships, and continuously improving procurement processes through data, automation, and AI‑enabled tooling.

This is a Fixed Term position.

Responsibilities
  • Develop overall procurement program plans consistent with project objectives as defined by program owners and key stakeholders, in accordance with accepted procurement and project management standards (PMI, PMBOK, ANSI, ISO)
  • Act as primary procurement point of contact to establish internal customer requirements, sourcing objectives, and supplier expectations
  • Manage implementation and planning of multiple simultaneous procurement programs, including defining scope, deliverables, sourcing strategy, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Build and deploy commodity‑level procurement plans aligned to program schedules and budget targets
  • Develop and maintain procurement schedules; monitor and report on PO status, delivery risk, and spend performance against plan
  • Manage program contracts, budgets, and delivery schedules across an assigned portfolio from award through closeout
  • Lead and direct all phases of the procurement lifecycle -- from sourcing strategy and RFP issuance through negotiation, award, execution, and supplier performance management
  • Evaluate supplier quality, delivery performance, safety practices, and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Coordinate cross‑functional activities that affect successful procurement execution, including engineering reviews, quality holds, receiving discrepancies, and invoice resolution
  • Maintain accurate electronic records; own the data integrity and cost accounting for assigned procurement portfolio
  • Coach, mentor, and technically develop junior procurement staff
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and automation across the procurement workflow
  • Leverage AI tools and automation to streamline sourcing, reporting, supplier communication, and data analysis tasks -- including using vibe coding approaches (AI‑assisted scripting and tooling) to build lightweight procurement dashboards, automate repetitive ERP workflows, and accelerate RFP/analysis turnaround
Qualifications
Required
  • B.S. in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; Project Management experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex procurement programs, supplier contracts, and sourcing activities in an aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading and coordinating cross‑functional teams (engineering, finance, operations, quality) to meet program‑level procurement requirements
  • Strong supplier management skills including RFP development, statement of work and specification writing, proposal evaluation, negotiation, and contract award
  • Recent procurement experience supporting mission‑critical manufacturing or launch operations environments
  • Deep understanding of contract types, terms and conditions, and subcontract management best practices
  • Proficient in procurement and project management tools (Costpoint, Coupa, SAP, MS Project, or equivalent)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); strong Excel/data skills required
  • Experience with AI and automation tools to improve procurement workflows -- including AI‑assisted drafting (RFPs, SOWs, supplier communications), automated reporting, and vibe coding approaches using tools like Claude, Copilot, or ChatGPT to build scripts, dashboards, or process automations without formal software engineering background
  • Comfort building and iterating on lightweight tooling using AI assistance to solve procurement data and workflow problems
  • Strong analytical skills; data‑driven with experience establishing and tracking procurement KPIs (OTD, PR‑to‑PO cycle time, cost savings, poke‑outs)
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or otherwise able to review all export‑controlled technical information
Desired
  • Knowledge of AS9100 standards and aerospace supply chain quality requirements
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Demonstrated experience automating procurement reporting or supplier tracking using Python, Power Automate, or AI‑assisted coding tools
