Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee its Michigan Operations Divisions and the West Chester site. The role partners with division leaders as a subject matter expert in supply chain management, developing and managing procurement for goods and materials while identifying cost savings and negotiating contracts.

The position emphasizes driving KPIs, supplier development, and strategic sourcing across global and regional programs, ensuring quality, on-time delivery, and cost

Qualifications

  • Five to ten years of related Supply Chain Management experience in an Engineer-to-order manufacturing, OEM, aerospace, or defense environment.
  • Demonstrated progressive career development with increasing responsibilities, with an emphasis in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of production flow, inventory flow, and documentation procedures.
  • Strong business/financial acumen, proficient in leading and setting direction for teams, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent growth leadership skills demonstrating clear global perspective and understand factors impacting Aerospace businesses and our suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement organization for MI Operations and the West Chester site, providing coaching, management, and escalation support to the team.
  • Drive KPI performance metrics - late release, push/pull/cancel, delinquency/OTD and costs/PPV.
  • Build supplier relationships and lead efforts to work with vendors to ensure OTD and cost needs for sites.
  • Drive the sourcing strategy that delivers a competitive advantage including implementation of the strategic supplier initiatives.
  • Lead Global Purchase Family or Regional Commodity specific sourcing with full accountability for buy and meeting material deflation targets by setting strategic direction for global or regional sourcing professionals.
  • Develop strategies and drive negotiations to meet the quality, fulfillment, and productivity requirements of the business.
  • Source and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
  • Compile and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance and implement corrective action when required.
  • Prepare bid packages, and coach supporting procurement team as needed on bids and negotiations.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical discipline

The ideal candidate will partner with division leaders and will act as a subject matter expert in supply chain management. He/She will develop and manage the procurement function for goods and materials; identify cost saving opportunities, creating competitive environments, creatively negotiate/generate contracts and manage the delivery of optimal solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement organization for MI Operations and the West Chester site, providing coaching, management, and escalation support to the team.

  • Leading Global Purchase Family or Regional Commodity specific sourcing with full accountability for buy and meeting material deflation targets by setting strategic direction for global or regional sourcing professionals.
  • Developing strategies and driving negotiations to meet the quality, fulfillment, and productivity requirements of the business.
  • Sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects, or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance and implement corrective action when required.
  • Preparing bid packages, and coaching supporting procurement team as needed on bids and negotiations.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively negotiate contracts, ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate Business or Technical discipline is required.
  • APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification is a plus.
