Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with ERP and inventory management software; MS Office.

Job description

Position SummaryThe Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management functions that support Force Electric's field operations across all active projects. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of materials, equipment, and services necessary for electrical construction and utility work. The Procurement Manager partners closely with Operations, Project Management, Warehouse, and Accounting to maintain reliable supply chains, control costs, and manage supplier relationships that meet the demands of a field-heavy electrical services workforce.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute procurement strategies for materials, tools, equipment, and services needed for electrical construction and utility projects, including transmission, distribution, and substation work.Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable delivery schedules; maintain a qualified vendor and subcontractor base.Issue and manage purchase orders, requisitions, and blanket agreements; track order status and resolve delays, shortages, or quality issues in coordination with Project Managers and field supervisors.Manage inventory levels across warehouse and job site locations, coordinating with Warehouse staff to minimize stockouts, overstock, and carrying costs.Prepare and administer competitive bid and RFP/RFQ processes for major material and equipment purchases; evaluate proposals and make award recommendations.Monitor market trends, commodity pricing and supply chain risks that may impact project costs or schedules; proactively communicate risks to leadership.Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, including pricing agreements, warranties, and service level expectations; maintain organized contract and vendor records.Partner with Accounting to reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and vendor statements; support accurate job costing and budget tracking.Support project bidding and estimating teams by providing current material pricing and lead-time information.Identify cost-saving opportunities, alternative suppliers, and process efficiencies within the procurement function.Ensure all procured materials and equipment meet applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards for electrical utility work.Maintain procurement policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with company standards and applicable law.Supervise and support procurement staff as applicable, including training on purchasing procedures and systems.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Minimum of five (5) years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience, with demonstrated experience in the utilities, electrical, or heavy construction industry strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience negotiating supplier and vendor contracts and managing competitive bid processes.Proficiency with procurement, ERP, or inventory management software; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).Strong understanding of electrical materials, equipment, and industry terminology (e.g., conductors, transformers, switchgear, conduit, PPE) preferred.Excellent negotiation, analytical, and vendor relationship management skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple purchasing priorities across concurrent projects.Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across Operations, Project Management, Accounting, and field personnel.Valid driver's license and ability to travel periodically to job sites, warehouses, and supplier locations.Work Environment and Physical DemandsThis position is primarily performed in an office setting with regular use of a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment. Periodic travel to job sites, warehouses, and supplier facilities is required, which may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, active construction areas, and varying weather.
