Job summary

HellermannTyton in Milwaukee seeks a Purchasing Intern to support requisitions, PO processing, and vendor setup under the Purchasing Supervisor. You will run reports, maintain vendor data, and assist in ensuring on-time delivery while upholding quality and EHS policies.

The role requires enrollment in a Supply Chain or related program, basic Excel and communication skills, and a willingness to learn ERP systems like JDE.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Supply Chain or equivalent associate's or bachelor’s program.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience within a purchasing or buying department preferred.
• Computer literate in a Windows-based environment.
• Prior experience with an ERP system (JDE helpful).
• Alpha-Numeric filing.
• Good communication and telephone skills.
• Knowledge of basic purchasing concepts preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance.

Responsibilities

• Purchase and negotiate quality products at a cost-effective price.
• Process purchase order requisitions and oversee office and shipping supplies inventory.
• Run weekly Open Order and Acknowledgement reports and work with buyers towards On Time Delivery.
• Expedite PO’s as necessary.
• Follow up on all pending and past-due purchase orders and update POs in the system.
• File appropriate paperwork.
• Enter PO data for the specified vendor list.
• Maintain vendor certification database.
• Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's QS9000/ISO14001 certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
• Recommend improvements and implement upon approval.
