Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Procurement Engineer to support mechanical scopes across drawing review, scope development, pricing, and buyout for large-scale Data Center, Industrial, Life Science, Commercial and Institutional projects in Birmingham, AL. This role emphasizes constructability, sequencing, and trade coordination, with hands-on field experience required.

Responsibilities include drafting scopes, coordinating RFIs, building CBS bid packages, managing bidder questions, and supporting cost

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in construction procurement or related field
• Hands-on field experience required
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform quantity takeoffs
• Strong Excel; Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, and Procore experience a plus
• Organized, detail-oriented, and clear written/verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and prepare scopes, inclusions, exclusions, and trade matrices
• Draft scopes of work and RFIs; log conflicts for bid resolution
• Build CBS bid packages; manage bidder questions and track coverage
• Support pricing, buyout, cost tracking, and change event pricing
• Cross-train across scopes to support the team as volume shifts
