Job summary

Clayco in Greenville, SC is seeking a Procurement Engineer to support the Procurement Lead across HVAC, plumbing, process piping, fire protection, and building automation on large-scale Data Center, Industrial, Life Science, Commercial, and Institutional projects.

You will review drawings, develop scopes, build cost breakdown structures, and assemble bid packages while coordinating with field teams to ensure constructability, sequencing, and timely buyouts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
• 2–5 years in construction procurement, estimating, project engineering, or mechanical contracting.
• Hands-on field experience required; on-site role preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection drawings and perform quantity takeoffs.
• Strong Excel skills; Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, and Procore experience a plus.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn; clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specifications; prepare takeoffs and scopes of work with the Procurement Lead.
• Draft scopes of work, inclusions, exclusions, and trade responsibility matrices.
• Log drawing conflicts and prepare RFIs for bid resolution.
• Support constructability reviews, sequencing, and coordination; identify clashes early.
• Build pricing breakouts for major equipment, duct, pipe, and labor; assemble CBS bid packages.
• Track RFIs, submittals, deliveries, and change events; support cost tracking and lessons learned.
