Job Description:

The Procurement Engineer Specialist is responsible for coordinating with the Quality and Supplier Quality Engineer team to ensure suppliers are delivering products per Hitachi Energy standards, on-time and on-quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Collaborate with them to improve product quality, lead time, and cost reduction.
  2. Performance Monitoring: Establish and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs) for suppliers, including defect rates, on-time delivery, and supplier capacity.
  3. Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement efforts both internally and with suppliers by recommending process enhancements, supporting Lean or Six Sigma projects, and driving operational excellence.
  4. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and improvement initiatives.
  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics to address supplier performance issues and ensure product specifications are met.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Procurement, Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or related field within manufacturing or automotive industries.
  3. Proven experience in improvement projects and root cause analysis.
Desirable Attributes:
  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  2. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  3. Ability to travel domestically or internationally to visit suppliers when required.
