Job summary

Voyager Technologies in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Procurement Engineer for Lunar Systems to manage source selection, negotiations, and supplier relationships for flight-grade avionics and ground support equipment. Hybrid role reporting to Director of Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform source selection based on best value criteria.
  • Ensure program requirements are prioritized and executed to meet needs.
  • Interpret engineering data (specifications, drawings, statements of work) to facilitate communication with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Design Department on critical component features and alternate parts.
  • Coordinate with internal customers to identify supply chain risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Perform supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification and performance oversight.

The Procurement Engineer for Lunar Systems, formerly Astrobotic Technologies, is responsible for supporting the acquisition of required goods and services by effective management of source selection, open purchase commitments, negotiations, and supplier/subcontractor relationships.

The position reports to the Director of Supply Chain and is part of the Supply Chain Department based in Pittsburgh, PA. This role is hybrid based in Pittsburgh, PA.

In this role, the essential functions are:
  • Perform sourcing tasks of all types of goods and services needed for Voyager Lunar Systems, including, but not limited to, flight grade and engineering models of avionics, mechanical components, and electronic components, as well as ground support equipment, engineering analysis services, and manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Conduct negotiations, with management support, to secure favorable terms and conditions, price, and schedule with suppliers.
  • Perform source selection based on established best value criteria.
  • Ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet needs.
  • Interpret engineering data such as specifications, drawings, and statements of work to facilitate effective communication between internal project teams and suppliers.
  • Work with Engineering Design Department regarding critical component features to identify sourcing recommendations and suitable alternate parts.
  • Maintain coordination with internal customers to identify supply chain performance risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful company performance.
  • Perform supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, performance oversight, and relationship development.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience in supply chain OR associate degree in electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain, or related discipline with 7+ years of experience in supply chain
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills gained through work involving Terms and Conditions, best value competition analysis, supplier management, or comparable negotiation activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, and persuade others to adopt a different point of view.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools, including procurement management and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in aerospace/DOD industry.
  • Experience complying with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and NASA requirements for procurements.
Travel, Physical, and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
  • Travel up to 10%, including the possibility of overnights

The good faith base salary rangefor this role is $80,000–$120,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
