Job summary

X Energy, LLC in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Procurement Engineer to own the supply chain strategy for nuclear fuel and reactor programs. You will identify, develop, and qualify equipment and service suppliers to meet project schedules, cost targets, and regional localization goals for first-of-a-kind nuclear fuel and reactor programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or science is required.
  • Typically ten years of experience in an engineering or supply chain role with at least two years in supply chain.
  • Experience with developing scopes of work for services and technical and quality requirements for procurement of equipment.
  • Experience with supplier negotiations.
  • Experience developing project plans, schedules, and costing models.
  • Experience in nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry.
  • Technical knowledge about the manufacture, operation, and maintenance of typical power plant components.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop equipment and service suppliers to support project goals.
  • Develop strategic supply chain plans and negotiate contracts.
  • Develop project specific supply chain execution plans to meet project schedule and cost goals.
  • Prepare category plans, perform category spend and risk analysis; plan and implement negotiation strategies; design and implement category and supplier risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct negotiations with suppliers relative to contract costing, schedule, Terms & Conditions, and technical requirements.
  • Manage equipment and service contracts to ensure on time purchase and delivery to the project schedule.
  • Provide direction on commercial and contracting strategy to Engineering, Procurement, and other business units.
  • Perform reviews of specifications, equipment datasheets, and Scopes of Work to ensure all technical and quality requirements are specified to facility accurate supplier proposals.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance department to qualify suppliers, determine correct contract QA requirements, and identify appropriate hold and surveillance activities.
  • Develop close working relationships with supplier and end customers.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure that contract terms and conditions are being met or exceeded and performance meets customer expectations.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all communications.
  • Analyze market conditions, project demands, and competing projects to secure best pricing and availability.
  • Lead the execution of core tasks with some latitude for independent judgment.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to junior team members.
  • Share knowledge related to industry best practices.

Job Description

Own the supply chain strategy that fuels America's advanced nuclear future. This Procurement Engineer role builds and leads the supplier base that powers TRISO-X — identifying, developing, and qualifying the equipment and service suppliers needed to meet project schedules, cost targets, and regional localization goals for first-of-a-kind nuclear fuel and reactor programs. You'll develop strategic and project-specific supply chain execution plans that deliver value for the company and its customers; build category plans grounded in spend and risk analysis; design and execute negotiation and risk-mitigation strategies; and negotiate contract cost, schedule, Terms & Conditions, and technical requirements — including long-term strategic supplier agreements that advance company objectives and generate revenue.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop equipment and service suppliers to establish a robust supply chain that supports project goals and supply chain regional localization targets.
  • Develop strategic supply chain plans which deliver valve for the company and its customers.
  • Develop project specific supply chain execution plans to meet the project schedule and cost goals.
  • Prepare category plans, perform category spend and risk analysis; plan and implement negotiation strategies; design and implement category and supplier risk mitigation strategies; plan and implement contract management for contracts within category.
  • Conduct negotiations with suppliers relative to contract costing, schedule, Terms & Conditions (T&Cs), and technical requirements. Negotiate and establish long term strategic supplier agreements to achieve strategic objectives and generate revenue.
  • Manage equipment and service contracts to ensure on time purchase and delivery to the project schedule.
  • Provide direction on commercial and contracting strategy to the Engineering, Procurement, and other business units.
  • Perform reviews of specifications, equipment datasheets, and Scopes of Work to ensure all technical and quality requirements are specified to facility accurate supplier proposals.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance (QA) department to qualify suppliers, determine correct contract QA requirements, and identify appropriate hold and surveillance activities.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days onsite

Travel Expectations: Up to 10%

Compensation

Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual’s qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:

$139,000- $159,000
