Job summary

The NYC Health Department’s Finance Division is seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to serve as a Procurement Coordinator. You will support procurement by researching, preparing documents, and ensuring policy compliance while coordinating with internal teams and vendors.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, data gathering, and timely processing of contracts from assignment to registration, with opportunities to participate in special projects and to help advance public health objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and six months of satisfactory full-time experience in research which involves gathering, organizing and analyzing data, and report writing.
• Associate degree and two years and six months of satisfactory full-time experience in research which involves gathering, organizing and analyzing data, and report writing.
• High school diploma or equivalent with at least six months of required experience or related coursework in research and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare procurement documents such as Pre-Solicitation Reviews and City Record notices.
• Use agency and citywide systems to process and approve procurement actions and contracts.
• Review contract scopes for completeness and alignment with agency needs.
• Perform research to determine fair market value for goods and services.
• Identify red flags in contractor information and escalate to leadership.
• Communicate with vendors to obtain required documentation and provide guidance.
