Job summary

Europastry USA in New Jersey seeks a Buyer to support procurement of raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and indirect supplies for manufacturing operations. The role ensures timely, cost-effective purchasing while maintaining inventory to support production schedules and customer demand.

The Buyer will collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability, resolve supply issues, and support operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of purchasing, procurement, buying, or supply chain experience.
  • Food manufacturing, bakery, CPG, or consumer goods experience preferred.
  • Experience in an ERP/MRP environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and operational supplies.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, product availability, and order status.
  • Support inventory replenishment activities to maintain appropriate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Work closely with Production Planning and Operations teams to ensure material requirements are met.
  • Track supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and service levels and communicate issues to management.
  • Assist in obtaining quotations and comparing supplier pricing to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Support vendor negotiations and sourcing initiatives under the guidance of procurement leadership.
  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies, invoice issues, shortages, and delivery concerns with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, supplier records, and procurement documentation within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Monitor inventory trends and purchasing activity to identify potential shortages, excess stock, or cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Operations to ensure purchased materials meet company and food safety standards.
  • Support new supplier onboarding and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and cost control.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, supply chain risks, and industry trends that may impact material availability or pricing.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, food safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Procurement, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 2–3 years of purchasing, procurement, buying, or supply chain experience.
  • Food manufacturing, bakery, CPG, or consumer goods experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting purchasing activities in an ERP/MRP environment.
  • Experience with supplier communication and purchase order management.
