AMSC in Ayer, MA is seeking a Junior Buyer to support day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring materials, components, supplies, and services are available at the right cost, quality, and delivery terms under guidance from senior staff.

The role involves creating and maintaining purchase orders, communicating with suppliers, monitoring delivery performance, and keeping ERP data accurate. A Bachelor’s or Associate degree is preferred; internships are welcome and ERP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business, supply chain, operations, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related discipline.
• Up to two years of experience in purchasing, materials, planning, inventory, customer service, or related function; internships welcome.
• Exposure to ERP or MRP systems and purchasing fundamentals preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Clear written and verbal communication with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsabilités

• Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders in accordance with requisitions and company procedures.
• Review PO acknowledgments and follow up with suppliers on pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
• Monitor open orders and expedite or reschedule as needed for production priorities.
• Request supplier quotations, perform basic bid comparisons, and support sourcing/negotiation.
• Maintain supplier, item, lead-time, pricing, and delivery data in ERP.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve routine shortages, late deliveries, and invoice discrepancies.
• Track supplier performance and assist with supplier reviews and corrective actions.
• Support inventory objectives by reviewing demand, order quantities, and lead times.
• Identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
• Maintain organized purchasing records and comply with quality, regulatory, and company requirements.
• Perform additional procurement duties as assigned.
